Altar Heart | Solid Wood Offering Box

This offering box is designed and crafted based on biblical content.
Its design inspiration comes from the form and symbolic meaning of the tabernacle altar in the Book of Exodus.

The overall appearance of the offering box is a cube with sides of approximately 25cm, taking the square structure of the altar as its design prototype.

The top lid has vertical slots extending in four directions, symbolizing the net structure surrounding the altar and evoking the inner posture of "offering oneself to God."
The columnar structures protruding upwards from the four corners of the lid symbolize the horns of the altar.
A handle is centrally placed for lifting the box and opening the lid.

The sides of the box are formed by multiple wooden panels interlaced and extending upwards, representing the unified devotion of God's people.
Inside, there is a bolt structure running through the bottom and top covers, secured by the central handle, which firmly connects the lid, side walls, and base.

This work attempts to explore the external form and internal meaning of the act of "offering" from multiple levels, including form, structure, function, and assembly method.

【Materials and Specifications】
・Materials used: Side walls are made of Japanese cypress solid wood (approx. 6mm thick), top panel and base are made of pine laminated wood (approx. 15mm thick).
・Processing method: After high-precision CNC cutting, it is finished with manual sanding and adjustment.
・Surface treatment: Natural paint coating (cherry wood color).
・Dimensions and number of parts: 18 parts, approximately 250 (L) × 250 (W) × 285 (H) mm.
